IN-PERSON OR ONLINE TRAINING
I Love Connecting With Groups. I create unique trainings that meet the specific needs of each group. I have trained college students, school counselors, walk-in participants at a local second-hand shop, pastoral staff, mission workers serving among the poor in the US, Cambodia, and Ethiopia, domestic violence shelter staff, local farmers and people of many different backgrounds.
PERSONAL CONSULTATION
Though “trauma” is a word that everyone is using these days what is it exactly? Have I, or a family member or friend faced trauma? If so, how do I heal? Sometimes it really helps to sit with someone and tell your story and learn about ways to help yourself or someone else manage the effects of trauma in their lives.
COMPANY CONSULTATION
If you regularly work with others who are in crisis or have faced much difficulty in the past, you are working with people who have been traumatized. And you or your staff will at some point may face secondary trauma—a traumatic response to other people’s harm or suffering. How do we as therapists, pastors, teachers and human service workers take care of ourselves while also caring for those who we serve?
JOURNEY GROUPS
We all carry disappointments and hurts from the past. We may struggle with shame, anger, anxiety, emptiness, numbness, or deep sadness. We may have heard that we are worthless, inadequate, never enough and/or always too much! We may have been abandoned by the ones who should have loved us the most. We may have faced traumatic experiences like verbal, emotional, physical, spiritual or sexual abuse or overt neglect. And we may ask:’
Why did this happen to me?
Is there a safe space to talk about these hurts?
Does God care about me and my wounds?
We offer the Journey group experience as a brave and courageous space, where trained lay-leaders help participants look at these issues in a kind and confidential environment. We seek to welcome’s God’s healing presence into our lives in new ways.
This is a 3 day experience includes meals, snacks and breaks, and is run by local trained volunteers.
Journey Groups were originally created by Dr. Dan Allander to help us resolve childhood hurts in the context of caring community. Training materials are now provided by Open Heart Ministries.
